plow and chain
Posted by DreamCatcher on Apr 14 2005
Seems the 10kg plow AKA Bruce, 15-20 ft high-test chain, and 250-300 1/2in 3-strand line is the standard for that size boat.  Chain is pretty much essential for a decent anchor set and having some nylon dampens the the shock of the boat tugging in a good blow.  We also carry a second anchor for both getting caught out in a really big blow or just in case anchor #1 gets hung up in some uncharted wreckage (happened once).  Having some extra line to attach to a shoreline tree can also help in a good blow and cut down on swing. If you have a windlass make sure the chain is compatible with the chain gypsy.  Congrats on the new boat!
