Kicker for Ocean Boat
Posted by Snowwolfe on Mar 02 2005
I have a choice between a Honda 15 hp High thrust with a 10 x 7 5/8's prop or a Yamaha 9.9 High thrust with a 11 3/4 x 9 1/4 prop. I am guessing my weight weight will be 7,000 loaded. Both motors have electric start. I have a deposit on the Honda but more than one person told me the smaller Yamaha would be a better choice due to the bigger prop size. I also noticed the Yamaha has a lower gear ratio. I think it was 2:92 compared to the Honda's 2:08. I plan on using the kicker for trolling and to help get me back if my main motor fails.
