What size OB you running?  I used to have an 18ft open river boat that I would convert back and forth from jet to prop with a 50hp OB.  I used a CMC manual lift.  It had about 7 in of up/down travel.  Simple design with a central jacking bolt mechanically adjusted with large socket wrench.  CMC mostly sells a more popular electric/hydraulic unit which is alot more money and better suited to larger motors.  I was looking for simplicity and the manual unit worked great for me (<$300).
