Trying to make the best decison
Posted by bushwaker on Feb 23 2005
Thanks to you Brian for your reply,
I am looking forward to spending my entire summer in my favorite state. I am quite overwhelmed with the choice of craft to buy however. With only class I experience I need a craft that i can learn in but yet i dont want to spend some serious cash in three years once i grow out of it,but if i buy  a boat suited for advanced paddlers now then i fear it will be hard to learn from.In the future summer trips i will have the entire summers to play but for the next couple of years i have to work the summers so i need to plan for the future as well. This summer is a work summer with a lot playing getting crammed in.When im not working i plan to be on the river.I wont be able to do alot of extended wilderness trips but i plan on something this summer. The following summers i hope to be doing more extensive trips so this craft should be suited for long term plans.Something i can pack on a plane maybee but withstand some serious water later on. One things for sure i dont want to just jump into a purchase and regret it later.Although in the end i will probably have purchased a canoe, kayak, and cataraft throughout the next several years then wind up fat and old sitting in a jet sled. I will definately look both you and jeff up this summer in hopes of being able to make the best choices as far as gear and training goes. One other thing are there any whitewater clubs or organizations in the area; where i could team up with experienced paddlers and learn from? Thanks for your help and maybee i can schedule something with you when i get there in late may early june.
