Many of the charter guys here in Sitka are replacing their Sea Sports with aluminum boats these days.  I'd much prefer aluminum over fiberglass if possible.

The Hewescraft mentioned below are VERY good boats.  If constantly going out 'but fishing, I'd choose the closed bow version.  But for me, and the fact we camp a lot and go to the beach quite often, the open bow would be my choice.

There are various techniques to beaching and anchoring your boat during tide shifts.  It's done all the time around these parts.
