Beaching a Boat
Posted by Snowwolfe on Feb 17 2005
This is just my opinion but I wouldnt choose an aluminum hull just because I could beach it occassionly. If you ever beach a big boat you better be standing beside it at all times to monitor the tides. If the tide is coming in the boat can float and be banged on the rocks by the incoming waves. If you beach it during an outgoing tide you may find it stuck for about 12 hours till the tide comes in to float it free. It is very very difficult to move a boat of these sizes by trying to push it over the rocks. If nothing else it will be damaged. Much safer just to carry a small inflatable which will also double as a life raft in the even you may need it.
