Take a trip to Seward and watch returning boats perform in the afternoon when the wind picks up along with the chop. You can learn a lot by watching how various hulls perform in adverse sea conditions standing on shore. I spent several years deciding on a boat. It's a big investment to make if your looking for a boat that can go out in the rough stuff. See if you can snag a ride in the boat your getting serious about. If your trailering you need to consider quality of the trailer and the rig that's towing it. No point in having a 26ft boat, triple axle trailer, if your driving a Subaru. Add on the mastery of convincing the wife why you need these things. Might be a good discussion thread by itself.
