Hewescraft
Posted by Spongebob on Feb 17 2005
Well, I know that others are going to disagree with me, but I am a big fan of Hewescraft.  I have a 26' Alaskan Searunner.  If you want a boat strictly for halibut, there are probably better choices out there, but I think an aluminum boat is much more versatile.  Mine has been on the beach while hunting(you don't want to do that with a fiberglass boat).  You definately want a bigger boat, and the 26' Hewescraft has a large deck.  It also has a head(a priority with my wife).  I got mine 2 years ago for $56,000.  I think they're a little more now.  You can get smaller ones for a lot less, but they only have one engine, and when the weather gets bad(and it will) you'll wish you went with the larger boat.
