Are really good Brian both about probably not needing & how to do it i think i will make both the yokes & the oars telescopic so it can be set up as needed the wider stance is prefered for many of the reasons ie space,stability,handling i am just being led that this river is really canoe country but these toys all cost money & modify this rug seemed the least expensive option right now. Space on this trip really shouldnt be to much of a concern as this will be a solo hunting trip this year.                                                                                                                                             Thank you for all the replys i really appreciate the help from all that responded            regards jeff
