The boats are fine in the sound as long as you realize their limitations. Mine are 25' Maxims and they are a reasonable boat in the sound in conditions that don't get to rough. I recommend anyone out there in a jet boat remember that small craft warnings should include you. The Thunder Jet hulls are pretty good in waves to about 4-5 feet max but one thing I would warn you about is that on the open gulf, you may encounter large floating mats of vegetation that will gradually clog your intake. The last thing you want is to have to stop in rough water to clean your jet! Thunder Jet makes a quality boat that is reliable when maintained properly. Have fun, listen to the weather broadcasts, and enjoy the wonders out there on the Sound...Bill http://www.ncrc.alaska.com Previous: Thunder jet 375ultramag Jan 14 2005 Next: experience and weather Gary W.
