boating Petersburg

Will be visiting Pertersburg in August, renting a skiff and fishing. Hoping to rent Cascade Creek or Brieland Slough cabins. Any imput on the boating and fishing. I am unfamiliar with the area and altough I'm studying up on it I could use any help I can get
