Pro-Pioneer
Posted by Backwaterbob on Jan 13 2005
I have Pro Pioneer and I am very happy with it. I believe I read somewhere on the forum that there is no such thing as the perfect Boat. I believe that to be a true statement. Each boat design will have different levels of efficiency in different area of the design. It’s the give and take of boat designing. So a person must know what they want the boat to do and how they expect it to perform before they choose.
I wanted a rugged lightweight inflatable that could be taken on a bush plane. Secondly, it must be capable of handling the load of a moose plus gear for two weeks in the backcountry. I have zero tolerance for failure in products I purchase. So it better be what it says especially if I am going to drop in twenty to fifty miles up river and depend on it. I have not been disappointed at all with my decision. The Pro Pioneer is tougher then I expected and performed well under heavy loads. I have drug it down shallows; pin balled from rock to rock down fast moving rivers with the fear it that I would damage it. It did put only put small scratches on the under side (normal ware to be expected) but very small and no damage or fabric failure at all. The Pro pioneer is sixteen feet long, forty-seven plus inches across and has eighteen inches inside clear between the tubes (walking room). It also has ten D ring spaced out for lashing points. Its wide stance makes it very stable.  I have been tough on my boat it has handled everything I have thrown at it. I believe it is a great boat and was designed by a hunter for hunters. I have no regrets!
Good luck on your hunt!
