careful....
Posted by jklingel on Jan 08 2005
I'd be more than real careful on the Yukon with a 16' boat. I know people get by with them, but that river can get some nasty turbulence (and waves, apparently). I see 16' boats at Chitina, too, and it makes me nervous. Your chance of swimming out of a capsize are small; silt and cold. We used a 16' Crestliner on Lake Erie for years, but 1.5 eyes of each head were always on the ski, and any breeze was touch and go. Can you rent a larger boat? Best of luck. j
